Rock Energy Cooperative Board of Directors - General Duties of a Director
• Attend regular monthly board meetings, which typically begins at 8 a.m. on the last Wednesday of each month at
cooperative headquarters in Janesville or the district office in South Beloit, Ill. The meetings generally last three to five
hours. Dates and times are subject to change.
• Attend special board meetings that might be called to conduct business that arises between regular meetings.
• Serve on committees as appointed by the board chair.
• Review financial reports, policies, publications, and other materials to become familiar with the functions of the
cooperative and with current issues involving cooperatives.
• Participate in director training seminars.
• Attendance at statewide, regional, and national meetings of cooperative associations is encouraged.
• Promote the positive reputation of the cooperative in the community.
Miscellaneous:
• Board members are elected at the annual meeting (April) by the entire membership.
• At the annual meeting, just prior to the voting, canidates will be offered an opportunity to speak to the membership.
• Directors are elected to 3-year terms.
