Safety is a serious issue, especially when it comes to electrical safety. Each year thousands of people in the United States are critically injured and electrocuted because of electrical accidents.

Many of these accidents are preventable. We use electricity every day for so many things that we forget it can be deadly. Its invisible force is so commonplace that it’s easy to overlook electrical hazards, even if they’re right in front of you.

More Power to You: New meters coming soon!

We live in a technology era that is truly amazing, which makes it an exciting time to work in the energy industry.

Starting in late June, Rock Energy Cooperative will begin replacing our current Automated Meter Reading (AMR) system with a new one that requires the installation of different meters. The new Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) system will help us operate more efficiently, improve reliability, and serve you better.

Co-op member grateful for donations to Project Lift Up

We don’t often get to hear the stories about people who have benefitted from our charitable donations, but Mary Dalton wants to share her story and thank the wonderful people who contribute to Project Lift Up. Just as the name implies, Project Lift Up gives people a financial lift when they need it most. Rock Energy members can donate to the program by rounding up their monthly energy bill to the nearest dollar, adding a set monthly contribution, or making a one-time donation. Most contributions come in the form of pennies, nickels, dimes, and quarters.

Choose and use extension cords safely

Have you ever tried to use an electronic device only to find out the cord is too short to reach the outlet?

Extension cords are useful for their practical, cost-effective solutions to this problem. But if used improperly, they  can cause fire and injury, even resulting in death.

Extension cords are designed for temporary use but shouldn’t be used as a long-term solution. An electrician can install the necessary wiring and receptacle outlets for a permanent solution.
