Trees, high winds cause power outages
About 1,400 Rock Energy Cooperative members lost power Wednesday night when storms rolled through the area, knocking down trees and power lines.
Newark Township was hit the hardest. In addition, many Rockton members lost power when a large tree landed on a three-phase line.
The first outages were reported about 7:30 p.m. By 3 a.m. today, most power was restored.
A total of 11 co-op employees worked through the night to clear trees from lines and restore power. They were dispatched first to areas where repairs can be made to restore power to the largest number of members in the shortest amount of time. As of 8 a.m., about 60 members remained without power.
Rock Energy thanks members for their patience and understanding.
