High school seniors can apply for co-op scholarships
Rock Energy Cooperative again is offering scholarships of $500 to graduating high school seniors who enroll at an accredited school. Seniors whose parents or guardians are members of Rock Energy are eligible to apply. In other words, you can apply if your household receives electricity and/or natural gas from the co-op.
Our independent scholarship committee will judge applicants based on general merit, cooperation, leadership abilities, financial need, and class ranking. Since 1989, Rock Energy has awarded more than $102,000 in financial aid to deserving students.
Applicants can submit online applications by clicking here. Once started, you will not be able to stop the application process and complete it at a later date. Your application must be completed in one sitting. Please review the form to make sure you have all the required information available. You are encouraged to prepare everything in advance using a word-processing program and then copy and paste your responses into the application.
In addition to answering the questions, you will be required to upload your high school transcripts and ACT/SAT results with composite and subject scores. Incomplete applications without the proper documents will not be considered.
The deadline for submitting applications is Jan. 9, 2019.
In addition, Illinois electric cooperatives award academic scholarships of $2,000 each through the Thomas H. Moore Illinois Electric Cooperatives (IEC) Memorial Scholarship Program.
Five scholarships are awarded to high school seniors who are the sons or daughters of an Illinois electric cooperative member receiving service from the cooperative. Three scholarships are reserved for students enrolling full-time at a two-year Illinois community college who are the sons or daughters of co-op members, employees, or directors. The Earl W. Struck Memorial Scholarship is awarded to a student who is the son or daughter of a co-op employee.
Online applications are available by clicking here. The deadline is December 31.
